Dr. Omoniyi A. Olubunmi hails from Oba-Akoko in Ondo State, Nigeria. She attended St. Peter’s Primary School, Oba – Akoko between 1971-1977 for her primary education before proceeding to Owo High School, Owo for secondary school education (1977-1982) where she was appointed as the Senior Prefect Girl for her set. She proceeded to the former Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti (now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti) where she obtained her first degree B.Sc (Ed) Chemistry (1987) and Second degree M.Ed. Science Education (1997) respectively. She later proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria where she obtained her Ph.D in Science Curriculum Studies in 2005.
Dr. (Mrs.) Omoniyi Olubunmi started her working career as a Youth Corper in the Chemistry Department of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna between 1987-1988. She joined the services of the Ondo State Government in the Teaching Service Commission in 1989 as a chemistry teacher. She taught chemistry in many secondary schools both in Ondo and Ekiti States. She laterally transferred her service to the Ondo State Civil Service Commission where she rose to the position of a Deputy Director (Inspectorate) in the Ministry of Education in 2007. She voluntarily disengaged from the services of Ondo State and joined the Services of the University of Abuja as a lecturer in 2007. Dr. Omoniyi Olubunmi voluntarily disengaged from University of Abuja in 2012 and joined the services of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko in January 2013 as a lecturer in the Department of Science Education, she specializes in Science Education and Curriculum Studies.
